Hey! I’m Bruna Pala, I’m in the 5th period of publicity and advertising at Unis, and this semester I’m doing academic mobility in Denmark as an Erasmus+ fellow. Since I was little, I dreamed of doing an exchange program and I can say that this was the best semester of my life!
First of all, living alone, with all the responsibilities and even in a foreign country was not very easy at first. I felt that here in Europe they don’t help you step by step like in Brazil, here you are independent and you have to be aware of your duties and learn to get by too. Communicating in English was easy, at first I didn’t speak much but mainly because I was afraid of making mistakes, but after a short time I lost that fear and today speaking English is something natural for me.
Among the experiences I had this semester, some were very special. For example, I spent the Easter holiday in Spain with my German, I had a weekend alone in Hamburg, Germany, to go to my favorite band’s concert, go through a selection process and go to Lithuania for a week with everything I pay to study there (and I even spent my birthday there!) and volunteer at a music festival for 16 hours at the bar and win tickets for 2 days of great partying!
This semester also helped me in my academic development, since the reality I found here is very different from that in Brazil, and this motivated me to participate in the Unis Scientific Initiation selection, for which I am a scholarship holder, and to continue with research in the area of linguistics and culture. I also joined BRASA, the Brazilian Student Association, which is a community of Brazilian students abroad that seeks to empower the next generation of leaders in our country through education.
