Last Saturday afternoon (11/19), the International Relations sector of the Unis Group, together with the institution’s Bachelor of Arts course and invited professors, held an afternoon of immersion in English for students, employees and the external community.

Throughout the period, students participated in activities aimed at developing the orality of the foreign language, such as example, vocabulary and frequently asked questions in an interview in English, sales simulation and how to order food, cultural presentation and a gymkhana.

By participating in the organization and conduction of some of the event’s activities, the students of Languages ​​from the Unis Group were able to put into practice what they learned in graduation. The coordinator Prof. Dr. Carina Adriele Duarte de Melo evaluates the success of the event, which had participants from different cities in the region, promoting integration between the academic and external communities. “Learning a new language means breaking with the limits of our place and expanding the possibilities of communication. Here’s to more projects like this!”, commented Prof. Carina.

The coordinator of the Department of International Relations at Unis and also professor of the Degree in Literature, Dr. Ana Amélia Furtado de Oliveira, stated that: “I had no idea that we would have so much engagement from the participants. They actually simulated an English-speaking world during the event. The teachers also joined in the activities and it was really fun and useful. We thank everyone who allowed this project to take place, the RI team, the coordination, teachers and students of Languages ​​and invited external professors”.

Prof. Ana Amélia also said that the intention is for immersion in English to be recurrent in the coming years and that it also have online editions, which may include students and employees from all Unis Group units and language learners in the external community, outside the city of Varginha .
